Great-there's an outbreak of HFMD at my school

Right now it's mostly in the Primary 1 level (I teach older kids) but my co-worker just informed me that two students in the class I'm about to teach have it (probably siblings). Gah...

I'm teaching in another classroom this afternoon while they sanitize the other. Bring on the masks!

  • lol, hand foot & mouth disease. Not to be confused with hoof & mouth. But yeah, huge blisters all over your hands, feet, mouth, throat-one girl even got some in her nose-that all turn into disgusting scars/callouses that peel and make you shed skin everywhere. You can get a full body rash, fever, etc. They told me its dangerous for small kids because the throat blisters can make it hard for them to swallow :( Luckily mine never went in my throat.

  • oh man I got that a few years ago when I was a nanny,it was absolutely awful. I had blisters all over my feet, inbetweeen my toes and in my mouth making it ridiculously difficult to swallow.

  • OMG that sounds disgusting! I'd rather have the high fructose mumps disease.
  • Me too! Gah. Apparently the incubation period is 3-7 days. A week before I know if I've been infected!
