have you ever had to take your H to the hospital

has he ever refused to go to the hospital?

Mine was crapping his brains out, had a temp of 92 F, and wouldn't let me take him. His temp is now 96, (raised in 5 minutes) I still want to take him (he stopped crapping and had 24 oz of water) but he insists on not going.

Re: have you ever had to take your H to the hospital

  • Ugh, food poisoning is the worst!  Dh had it in college, from taco bell, and I ended up calling my mom in the middle of the night because he was so sick and I didn't know what to do.

I did take him once when he was bit by something, we still don't know what but he is very allergic and it scared the hell out of me.

  • That totally sucks! I had the craps and the pukes for 1 day 2 weeks ago. It was awful! I didn't have the temp though. I hope he feels better! My H always refuses the hospital and the doctor.

  • I have to say - I find it interesting the kinds of things that people want to go to the doctor/ER/Urgent Care over.

  • I'm pretty sure DH would refuse to go to the hospital in this case.  And, I'm sure I would refuse to also.

Keep him hydrated.  HOpefully he is starting to feel better.

yeah extremely low temp, almost fainting, and diarrhea,  how interesting of me. lol.

  • we didn't go to the hospital, I kept him up on fluids. It was really sad/scary to see him like that :( poor thing.
  • I had to take my DH to urgent care Tuesday night.

I normally call my advice nurse and they tell us to go or not.

I'm with you.  I've probably had food poisoning or stomach viruses a dozen times and it has never occurred to me to go to the hospital.  I've only been to the ER once in my life, for a broken ankle.

  • I took my H to the hospital because he got bit by a bat and needed rabies shots.

    He went willingly though.

Your H was suffering from hypothermia that resolved in 5 minutes? I'm thinking you need a new thermometer.
  • I took fiance to the urgent care once, because he has a 102.9* fever for about 36 hours that wouldn't decrease, even with tylenol.  Turned out he had pneumonia, so good thing we went.
Always be yourself. Unless you suck.

    Yes, thank you.

Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
  • H laid down his motorcycle and wrecked his shoulder, and it took me three days to nag him into going to the regular doctor for it. I had to have my physical therapist give me scare tactics to use before I could finally convince H to go.

For a stomach thing that only started 30 minutes ago, though.... I would try a different thermometer and make him drink water. Doesn't seem worth the ER/hospital.

  • Yes, he had appendicitis.  This was after calls to 3 different people we know, all of whom told him to go to the hospital.

    It's a miracle!

It wouldn't have occurred to me to bring him to the ER or anything. Yes, he was sick, but not sick enough for an ER visit or anything, IMO.

No, I have not. Keep an eye on the spouse (that low temp is weird, are you sure it was not a mistake?) and keep him hydrated. Poor guy.

idk he said his temp is usually one degree lower than average, and I tried it a couple times. He almost fainted twice and had the chills. I think his temp was low, but idk how low, b/c I would read my temp right after and it would read at 96.48. He feels better now, it was hard watching him go through that :(

What are his reasons for not going?  Does he go in for regular check ups but just doesn't want to go in now?

(4 degree increase in five minutes sounds like he didn't hold the thermometer under his tongue properly)
