Just curious.
I'm always pinning the greatest stuff on Pinterest and then when I embark on the project it more often than not turns into a massive fail. Then I'm cursing and saying I should stick to what I know. So what are you good or even great at and what do you wish you knew how to do?
Me:
I am good at painting. Which we all know now. I am good at baking/cake decorating and generally anything that requires paper products. I am a Photoshop pro, so I can make great canvas art of my kids or just any kind of art for the walls.
I WISH I knew how to sew. I love fabric and would love to have the skill to make things for my windows. I also seem to fail at most things that require spray adhesive. I would kill for H to teach me to use his circular saw so I could actually build things, like built ins and stuff...he's afraid I'll cut off a thumb.
Re: DIY: what are you good at and what do you wish you could do?
I can sew and bake reasonably well.
In general, patience is what I need. I just don't have to patience to learn how to do most projects and learn new things.
I'm good at demolition, design, painting, and gardening. I'm good at drywall sanding. I'm also very well suited to heavy lifting, and any task requiring brute strength.
I wish I was better with power tools. I leave that to him.
I have a good eye for decorating and taking random eclectic stuff and making it look good together. My H likes things matchy, so that kinda bites. I often look at my house and think how it would look if he didn't have a say (it would look GREAT : )
Like pokergal, I wish I had more patience. I would love to paint furniture, sew, be successful with DIY projects and stuff I've pinned, but my lack of patience gets in the way.
Go Phils!!
I'm good at sewing (it's really not that hard!!), and good with color....I can remember shades of color and coordinate without having all the pieces together (does that make sense?). I think I am good with decorating and repurposing/recreating pieces.
I really would love to learn woodworking. I would LOVE to make my own furniture pieces. I think I could do it given the time/resources. Someday. I also wish I knew plants/gardening but really have no desire to learn. It seems like too much work/too hard.
I'm good and painting and general design. I'm decent at refinishing furniture.
I wish I was better with woodworking and general building knowledge like DH is. Then again, I guess that's why I keep him around.
I'm not good at accessorizing b/c I'm not a knick knack person.

There are so many things that I LOVE to do (whether i'm actually good at it or not. lol) Sewing, baking, cooking, I love crafting, but finding the time is always the issue.
I'm really good at decluttering and organizing. I truly think I missed my calling. I'm really good at cutting in with a brush when painting (no tape for this girl!)
I wish I was better at sports and physical/athletic things. I hope DD got DH's athletic genes and then I can live vicariously through her. lol
I'm decent at painting, sewing, building things, and masterminding home reno. I've tried and am ok at the more major things in a reno (plumbing, electrical, hardwoods, etc). I've never tried plumbing with metal pipes, though - it sounds interesting, but I'm kinda afraid of burning my house down. LOL. Plastic pipes are much safer.
Something I wish I would bother learning to do is arrange flowers/make wreaths, that sort of thing. I have never tried to make a home arrangement, ever. I think I would like doing it though, and I think it would be a fun hobby. But I just never have the time.
I'm mostly good at building things. I also cook/bake really well.
I so, so, so wish I had more patience. I think I could be better at some many things if I had it. Building a media stand? Easy peasy. Putting new hardware on our kitchen cabinets? Makes me want to gouge my eyes out.
I'm good at anything you make with your hands and basic machines. Seriously I can any tool and use it. I sew, crochet, knit, cook, gardening, canning, woodwork, painting, dye fabrics and yarn. You name it. I would have made a great pioneer.
I'm a special snowflake when it comes to technology. Computers and cell phones hate me. Its laughable how long it takes me to learn this stuff.
