s/o of Eden's doctor post...

Should I call the doc (again)? Ever since I got my tdap vaccination (pertussis) in the hospital after having DS2, my arm hurts.  Sometimes it is like my muscles hurt, but other times it's like this pain right where I am pretty sure the needle went in. Last night it was throbbing. I have been to the docs for it before, but she pretty much dismissed that it could be due to the vaccination and gave me some exercises to do.  I sometimes get such terrible pain in my upper arm that it's hard to move it. Anyone ever hear of lingering issues like this from a vaccination? I had my DS2 in September.

Thanks!

Re: s/o of Eden's doctor post...

  • One of my local ladies is having an issue like this (same vac but different pain, it's in her shoulder), but her doc discovered that she has an infection... a bone infection? I forget exactly, but I know it sounds scarier than it is. If your muscle is hurting it really could just be an unfortunate side effect. Once I had a steroid shot in the arse for bronchitis. Except the nurse wasn't paying attention and put it in my lower back where there's hardly any fat/muscle to absorb. So the steroids effectively "melted" the fat in my back and I had a 6" diameter, dark purple crater in my back! It was literally just skin and bone in that spot. FOR 3 YEARS!!! Sucked the most.

  • Yikes. I got my tdap about a week ago and my arm still hurts like I have a sore muscle. Not as bad as what you described though. Good luck!

  • Thanks ladies!  I have no idea what's going on with me. I have heard about infection (or whatever), but am just not sure. I saw the PA and I don't think she took me seriously.  Maybe I will schedule another appt. with my regular doc, b/c it kinda is getting in the way of things. Thanks again!!
