Honey... You're not gonna die...
We've been married less than 6
months. And I have never been to the doctors/hospital more in my
LIFE! His mother got her MD back in the 90s while undergoing brain
cancer surgeries and chemo. She has never practiced, and her
specialization was OBGYN. If he so much as sneezes, he calls his
mother, "the doctor on call, honey!" Next thing I know, he's convinced
he's gonna die any second! Hypo-chondriac!! A few months ago, he had a
severe allergic reaction after eating applesauce. Never had any
allergies before. He goes to the ER, then calls me after they've
injected him with epinephren and gave him a half a dozen other
perscriptions for whatever. My family is the "just put some neosporin
and an ice back on it, you'll be fine." BUT OH NO! Not his MD MOTHER!
Who, I repeat, studied OBGYN, NEVER PRACTICED, and has had chemo! Love
her to death, but she has my husband - her dear only child - that is he
so much as smells an apple ever again he'll die in a millasecond! I've
read clinical journals on anaphylaxia, apple allergies, etc. published
by doctors within the past 24 months. He has his epipens on him
always. So if something were to happen, he can inject that and we go to
the hospital.
I swear, he gets a papercut and immediately calls his mother, "Oh my gosh! Honey! They're gonna have to amputate my hand! My mom said so!"
He finds a new red dot on his shoulder, immediately calls his
mother, "Oh my gosh! Honey! I have stage 25 melanoma! My mom said so!"
(it was a zit)
And the medical journals and studies I've researched are
"comforting, BUT, my mom said that I am different so I have to be extra
cautious!!"
THROWING HANDS IN THE AIR!!!

Didn't you know he was like this before you married him?

See if any of his ailments can have medical marijuana prescribed as a treatment....That should help him chill out a little.

How does having had chemo affect her expertise? Other than that, this all does sound pretty annoying.

I'm assuming he was like this before you got married, yes?
If I had an anaphylactic reaction to applesauce, I'm pretty sure i'd
stay away from apples and applesauce for, well, ever. I had an
anaphylactic reaction once to my allergy shots and I am never getting
them again.

We didn't move in together
until about 5 month into our engagement because I'm active duty military
and he had to move to my station. I knew he called his mom a lot, but
didn't have these medical "issues" before we married in November. Ever
since the I-do's, she's been the mother-in-law, "you have to take good
care of my boy now."

Not sure what this has to do with anything...
Yea, I don't blame him for staying away from apples/applesauce after that.
Was he like that before you got married?

you both sound annoying. reading some research and clinical trial info does not make you an expert either.

This. I have no advice but hypochondriacs drive me nuts. SIL is like
this and big on the WebMd. I try to ignore her at all times.

You sound really bitter. Don't all doctors get the same basic training, despite their specialty? Look
on the bright side, at least he is calling his mom with his
hypochondria and not costing you a doctor's visit every time he thinks
he's dying.

Actually, an anaphylactic
reaction could very well kill him so your thread title sucks. Not sure
why your MIL's chemo negates her medical degree. Sounds like he needs to
grow a set and you need to get some empathy.

What in the world does this have to do with anything? StephUF07: And the medical journals and studies I've researched are

Do you not see the hilarity in
your negating your MIL's knowledge, WHO GOT HER MD, but simply didn't
practice and touting your 'research' as the be all and end all of every
argument?
I think you're nuts and I don't believe anything you say b/c YOU DONT MAKE ANY GODDAMN SENSE. freak. ETA: StephUF07: A few months ago, he had a severe allergic reaction

Is most of your family dead of stupidity? because they should be. A severe allergic reaction is nothing to dismiss. I repeat, you're an idiot.

At a certain point I'd be like,
"Well, let's make sure to get our wills together. If you're going to die
soon, I don't want there to be any drama."
