We didn't get home until midnight last night (baggage claim in Philly is a joke). Our flight arrived at 10PM, the bags didn't come out until almost 11 and it's an hour drive home from there. And surprisingly I'm in a decent mood since I'm back in the office today.
We hit up all of the Disney parks and rides; Aerosmith coaster 4 times, Tower of Terror once (not S's thing), Space Mountain more times I can count, log flume, tea cups, etc. You can do a wine tour in Epcot through the countries (probably my favorite part in theat park). In the afternoons around lunchtime we would arrive at the pool and lounge or float along the lazy river. We stayed off Disney property which is the best idea in the world; minimal kids. Weather was perfect (upper 80s and sunny), it never rained. And I'm rockin' a sweet tan.
So what's happening? DId I miss anything exciting?
Re: I'm baaaaack!
And nothing too exciting here... ask Missus about her big news, though!
Welcome back! H and I went to Disney last week. We spent 2 days (1 at the Animal Kingdom and 1 at the Magic Kingdom) before our cruise out of Port Canaveral.
I wasn't impressed. Thousands of children is too much for me. If I had known there was a wine tour in Epcot I would have insisted that we go there instead.
Hey, hey, welcome back!
Did you go to that "Pleasure Island" or whatever the evening adult-centered place is? I remember it had comedy improv shows and they served booze...
Glad you had a nice time, minus the airport nonsense.
Welcome home!
What's this of an Aerosmith coaster?? I've never heard of it!
Can't wait to see pictures!
This is the saddest part of our trip. We've always loved Pleasure Island (especially the comedy club). It's now closed (all the bars and the comedy club). I guess they weren't generating enough revenue, so now they're slowly starting to put in various restaurants in place of the clubs. I saw an Irish pub that looked to be hopping, but other than that it was deadsville.
Kjewell - I get ya on the kids. We purposely went to the parks when they opened at 9AM and basically walked on to every ride. I think the longest we waited for anything was 10 minutes. We were out of there by noon and that seemed to be the time the parks were filling up. Definitely check out the countries in Epcot if you're ever back there. There was also a beer tour that started in Germany. There's not a lot for kids there since it's mostly just restaurants and informational stuff, so Epcot was by far (at least in the countries) the least kid-infested.
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith
Opened: July 30, 1999
Ride length: 1 minute, 22 seconds
Overview/History:
Rock ?n? Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith is one of Disney's more exhilarating rides. This extreme coaster is teamed with the exciting sound of America?s legendary rock band, Aerosmith, creating a high-speed thrill ride that will literally rock ?n? roll guests.
This indoor roller coaster features a high-speed launch of 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds, three inversions, rock-concert lighting and a specially created Aerosmith soundtrack blasting from 120 onboard speakers in each coaster train -- all firsts for a Walt Disney World attraction.
Rock ?n? Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, located near The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror on Sunset Boulevard, represents yet another breakthrough in Disney theme park rides. Guests board a ?limo? and blast off- you're rockin' at five Gs as you head to the first upside down loop on the track. By comparison, astronauts aboard the Space Shuttle experience three Gs at liftoff.
The attraction begins with a tour of the fictional G-Force Records. Here guests encounter Aerosmith finishing up a studio recording session. They notice all of their "fans" and invite you to join them in their limo as they head to a concert. You all head to the boarding area and climb into a 24-passenger ?stretch limo? and swiftly accelerate into the Hollywood night.
That sounds awesome and I don't even really like roller coasters. Sweet!
Oh man, I am sad to hear they shut down Pleasure Island! It was 2001 or 2002 when I went there last, so obviously I haven't kept up with what's going on there but it seemed like there were a lot of folks there back then. I'm sad that it didn't gain popularity.
Nice! You make me want to go now!!!
Sounds amazing (especially the epcot wine tour)! So glad you had a good trip!
I had a bad Disney experience when I was 14, but I was an angry teenager with two little siblings so that probably had a lot to do with it. lol I want to go back as an adult because I know they brainwash their employees to be happy and hospitable all the time and are obsessive about "guest experience". Maybe once school is back in session later in the year.
I've always heard the best day to go is Father's Day.
Welcome back, PSU! It sounds like you had a great trip and a decent first day back to work!
I haven't been to Disney since I was 15... maybe I need to go back because it sounds like I can enjoy more of the amenities now.
Actually, one of my best friends worked there before and is going back again this fall to work there again. She is naturally like that. They don't brainwash, they just hire people who REALLY ARE that pleasant, lol.
Also, I've been to Disney World 10 times including my HM. I
Disney World, haha.
