I don't think I did the no shampoo thing right.

I washed with a baking soda paste and an ACV rinse and made sure I rinsed it really well. Well, now my hair feels like I have a ton of build up. It's kind of sticky or something. Do I just need to rinse better or use more or less baking soda or vinegar?

What was that website someone posted a few days ago?  TIA.

Re: I don't think I did the no shampoo thing right.

  • When I did it, I used one heaping tablespoon of baking soda to 16 oz of water.  No paste for me.

  • It was much more watery than a paste, didn't know what to call it I guess. I had to dump it on my hair, I couldn't hold it or anything.

Maybe I'll try it with less baking soda though. It doesn't look bad,I just don't want to run my fingers through it.

  • I know exactly what you're talking about. Try less baking soda.  I put it in a like, hair color squeeze bottle I got at Sally's and then just squeezed my mixture on my roots.
  • Why not just use shampoo?

You are not alone. I had to wash my hair three times to get the build up out. And I only used a third of the baking soda / water combo recommended. It looked and felt awful.

For the same reason I tried the oil cleanse method and the roasted broccoli. I'm an ML follower. I'm going to throw a puppy next.

  • Well, I didn't throw away any of my shampoo or anything. I have just read a lot of people on here trying it and being happy with the results and thought I'd give it a shot.

FTR, I am back using regular facial cleanser and I actually hate broccoli, lol.

Soon to celebrate the day we met, even if the day before marks when we said goodbye.
  • Before you give up on it, try a different ratio.  How many times have you washed your hair with the baking soda mixture?

    LOL!

I'm also back to my good old cetaphil, but roasted broccoli changed my life.  I'm not willing to give up my shampoo though.

  • I prefer roasted asparagus to roasted broccoli any day!

I am still loving my oil cleansing!

  • I asked my dermatologist about the oil cleansing method.  She basically said that it was a terrible idea and gave me WTF face about putting castor oil on my skin.

    Of course she did....

My face hasn't broken out in months.  I hated my skin before I tried it.

  • Today was the first day I tried it, so I'll try less baking soda next time.

My hair actually has more bounce today though. I have very fine/thin hair and it is not as flat as it usually is. I feel pretty  : )

Oh, and I much prefer roasted asparagus, but H hates it so I tried the broccoli for him.

  • Don't do the paste thing. Put some in a bottle with water and keep it in the shower.  Shake it up well the next time you use it.

  • Can someone explain how this works and what the point of it is? Does it get rid of shampoo buildup or is it like the dry shampoo by Suave I use? I'm curious.
  • Just trying to cut down on all the unnecessary (toxic) chemicals being absorbed through my skin.  It's inexpensive too!  Win!
