Heading back to court this afternoon

We have the court date for the modification request of child support.  XH has decided that he just wants to leave the current CS as is (he had originally wanted it lowered with the intent to still pay the full amount but that the excess would go towards his arrears balance).

He informed me that he'll leave it as it is and that he won't be able to start paying on the arrears balance for at least a year and a half.  I told him that was fine because he is current so it shouldn't be a problem.  It's currently accruing at 10% interest but that is not my problem.

I am happy that he's leaving things alone but really wish he would have figured this out before I met with my lawyer to go over my case against him (to the tune of $350/hr).  Then there was all of the time I spent gathering data against him.  Then there was the worry and stress I was under when I saw that DCSS recommended his support obligation be lowered by more than half.  Now I'll have to account for my time out of the office to attend court today, good-bye 1.5 hours of PDO.

I know XH does not plan to show up so hopefully everything will just be thrown out.  Nothing can ever just be easy when it comes to dealing with him.

  • I'm sorry you have to deal with this, but hopefully it all goes smoothly!

  • Has he always been like this? What a jerk!

  • I guess at least he isn't trying to get it lowered anymore, right?

To the poster who asked if he has always been like this ... this is nothing with AChase's ex. I might even qualify this as one of the "easier" things she's had to deal with!

Haha, exactly.  This really isn't that big of a deal at all.  I'm just whining about it but it's small potatoes, really.

  • Of course he couldn't have done things the easy way....that's not his style!

I feel for you.  I hate going to court.  Why do these idiots have to keep dragging things out?  We should not have to keep going to court for years of the same issues....over and over again.  It's insane!
