If you could travel back in time, what year/time period
would you go back to? Why? You would be able to go anywhere in the world. You wouldn't be able to alter or change anything. I just started reading 11/22/63 by Stephen King so the topic is on my mind.
I'd travel back to the 1930/1940's so I could meet my grandmother as a teenager. She has always been a very mysterious woman and I'd love to see what she was like then. I would love to be able to understand her a little better.
Re: If you could travel back in time, what year/time period
I'd say the 20s b/c I think I was meant to be a flapper.
This poll reminds me of a story. Recently, someone at the bar said something about how he wished it was the 1940s, because things seemed simpler and better back then. S responded with saying, "You know what was great about the 40s? Polio. And World War II."
The guy seemed pretty dejected. My special friend is charming!
So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.
We're kind of going out.
Thor dropped the hammer on bar-rando's dream.
i like it here. with rights and tampons and indoor plumbing.
maybe i'll hit up 2300 to see if we've truly imploded and gone all handmaid's tale, or if it's actually nonsucky.
for like a week, i'd like to see ancient egypt. middle kingdom.
Updated September 2012.
LOL at Thor. Heh.
I'd go back to the late 30s, buy low and sell high. I'd be like Daddy Warbucks!
It was the joy of his day! He kept smirking and giggling afterwards.

I'd go back to the 60's and make out with Grace Slick to see if I could conquer my patchouli aversion.
Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
I'd go back to the late 70's early 80s and buy tech stock
and do tons of blow
and party with Bowie
The early 1900s. I want to see the Titanic embark, then book passage on the, was it the Carpathia that rescued the survivors? Then I would want to interview the survivors, but would have a hard time biting my tongue, knowing what we know now.
I would also like to go back to the 50s era, for two reasons: My Daddy was a greaser (class of '57), and I would love to wear some of those clothes and go to a sock hop LOL. I would also like to be at the pizza restaurant my parents went to on their first date.
Well, if I'm just a casual observer of time, and not participating in anything (can't alter anything)...
I would love to see the world during the time Jesus Christ was alive. Wonder how it stacks up to the bible's retelling?
Or some random time prior to photos/videos. Just to see what life was really like.
Oh, and... I feel the need to mention that I am not a bible thumper by any stretch. I'm also not agnostic or an athiest.

Did you ever read "Pope Joan"? It was the middle ages so not quite in your target time period, but still, a good read. And lots of Papal intrigue!
I'm a black woman.
