golfing when pregnant... (obviously kinda @)
Any reason I can't golf when I'm pregnant? We're going to a cottage this weekend and they have a club right there and I haven't used my new clubs yet.
I tried googling it but really haven't found anything.
Anyone know if there's a reason I shouldn't be doing this? I'm at the beginning of the 2nd tri.
I feel like this should be a "yes of course you can go" but H's friend is all "she shouldn't be golfing" which makes me rethink it.
Re: golfing when pregnant... (obviously kinda @)
Of course you can. Presuming your doctor has not told you NO GOLFING, which is ridiculous if you are having a normal pregnancy.
Sounds like dh's friend does not want wives along.
No DH's friend just had a baby and just seems to think he knows everything about pregnancies.
He's awesome but I don't think he realizes that there are a lot of differences between me and his wife who couldn't do as much when she was pregnant.
His thing was "the twisting"
Which I think is a little ridiculous, it's not like I'm wringing my baby out.
and I'm still doing ab workouts so can't see how this would be that different.
but thought I'd double check in case I was missing something.
I played golf all summer both times I was pregnant (I had both kids in earlyOctober). The only thing that started to bother me was I'd get tired, so I started taking a cart. And I drank a lot more water than I normally do.
Oh, and fewer cocktials. LOL!
But seriously, the stomach does not really get in the way - it actually made me a better golfer. Changed center of gravity or something.
Your DH's friend sounds like a jerk. Maybe he's not, but who is he to say what you probably should or should not be doing.
Go golfing and have fun!
haha so true, I might actually beat H this time!
It seems there are a handful that play on there!! How well do you all play?
I played at about 5 weeks pregnant and somewhere around my 2nd tri too. Then not til after I had DD, haven't played since
Unless you are 4wheeling in the golf cart there is no reason not to golf. Lots of women find they golf better pregnant because their swing gets stabalized (due to belly interference).
lol, well, I guess you should only have missionary style sex during your pregnancy as well:)
Yep, I was on fire. In the tournament, I won longest putt and closest to the pin. My friends were all, "if we weren't here we would have thought you were cheating!".
I also took a belly dancing class and my friend was pg with twins and quit bc of the twisting but that was just her own paranoia, she was not advised that it was a problem.
nah he's not a jerk (even though this definitely makes him sound like one) he's just been a little weird lately with this stuff, assuming that because his wife said she couldn't do something when she was KU that it means that all KU women can't do it. He's a little misinformed but means well.
Thanks everyone, I'll definitely be playing and feeding them all extra booze to increase my winning chances.
LOL I should tell him that, although I don't think his wife wanted to have sex when she was pregnant to be honest. She was not exactly having the best pregnancy ever.
"She shouldnt be golfing" sounds like code for "I want this to be a guys outing".
Of course you can golf when you're pregnant. Although once I got big enough, I was unable to actually swing properly, so it was kind of pointless to try.
This is interesting. I wondered how the belly would affect your swing, but I am not a golfer at all.
One thing I would say for all outdoor activities is to wear lots of sunblock. Pregnancy can do weird things to your skin and some people become extra sensitive to the sun. I can't see why golfing would be a problem as long as you are comfortable.
