NATO Video Fact Check Fail

Chicago is hosting the NATO conference this month. So NATO created a little video showcasing the city. But apparently no one took the time to fact research. lol.Chicago is the capitol of Illinois and Obama grew up here. I learn something new everyday. Wink

Re: NATO Video Fact Check Fail

  • I'm an IL native as well and read about this in the paper today. It gets both a "haha" and a "sigh" from me - seriously, Chicago is not the end-all be-all of Illinois, although even I say I'm from "around Chicago" when abroad since people can't necessarily place IL but have at least know Chicago's "in the middle."

  • hahhaa I do admit that I probably would have guessed Chicago to be the capital :)

It is a very common mistake. I wonder if Washington State has the same problem with Seattle/Olympia? Or CA with LA/Sacramento? Seems like a lot of capitals aren't the biggest cities in their states.

It really isn't. I'm kind of up in the air about living here. It's good for DH job wise and we only need one car because of public transport. Plus, We wouldn't need a car at all if I didn't want to have the ease of driving 2.5 hours to see family.

But the corruption, high taxes, noise and safety make me want to find a new city to live in.

Driving 2.5 hours in which direction, if I may ask? Because if it's west, then that would land you pretty much directly in front of my parents' house... (I grew up along the Mississippi)

North. But I'll drive 2.5 west if you want to meet during your visit. Do you live in the area of these special ice cream shops. I went to one but can't remember the name. I was in the quad cities at the time.
