I sent an email to that company to find out the status of the hiring budget. Because, if you've been following along (I know you're not) the decision maker expressly told me that I was very impressive, he was going to make me an offer, they just needed to figure out the money situation. He asked me to hang tight.
I just got an response to my check-in - not from him, but from the HR lady - telling me they went with someone else. I know, I know, this probably happens all the time. I am a job switching newb. This really, really sucks. It would have been a really nice bump in salary that would have accelerated our baby making.
I've got a nice migraine to accompany my humiliation, too. I need it to be Friday, like, now.
