I think I need help. Tod's v Ferragamo (and Coach)
I've been trying to decide my next bag and narrowed it down to a Ferragamo Sofia or Tod's D bag b/c they can be worn crossbody if needed but I can't decide. I love the Sofia but wonder if it won't work if I'm dressed casually as it's more formal and structured.
And Lord help help me but I like a Coach bag too. Sorry to those of you who love coach but it's never really been on my list of handbags. However, I kinda love the Coach Willis. Every time I see it on Atlantic Pacific I like it even more... and the cost is amazing.
Anyone have any of those bags and have any thoughts?
Re: I think I need help. Tod's v Ferragamo (and Coach)
We can have an intervention so you don't get the Coach. I love both the Ferragamo and the Tod's so I'm not help with either (and Mulberry is right along those lines, too) but no, no Coach.
xoxo
What bugs me about the Willis is that little handle on top flops around if you wear it crossbody and it just looks strange.
My vote is for either the Ferragamo or Tod bag. I prefer less hardware so I would probabaly get the Tod's bag, but that is me.
I have a Tods d-bag (from several years ago -- definitely can't wear it cross-body) and I love it. This is maybe a strange observation, but it is a really comfortable bag to carry. The straps never slip and are really comfortable. I really love Tods bags for this reason.
(But I don't have anything Ferragamo, so I can't compare.)
I don't have any of them, but I've seen them all in person. I think it really comes down to the look you want. I think they are all very nice.
I think Coach has been doing a nice job with their leather bags (despite all the hate that brand gets). The leather is soft and the styles are nice. Of the three this is the most casual and it's also the smallest, so keep that in mind.
I love Ferragamo bags. My favorite was the mediterraneo satchel from a few years ago (they no longer sell the style it). Anyway, the leather is beautiful. The sofia bag is no exception, but you are right that it is the most formal of the three bags.
The Tods D bag is also really nice. Again really nice leather, nice classic style. I think the style of this one is probably in the middle of the other two.
If I planned to wear this as a cross body bag, I'd want the Coach bag because I think smaller bags are more comfortable that way. If you don't care about that, or only want to carry it cross body occasionally, and you want the extra space to hold stuff, I'd go with the other two.
The Ferragamo is my favorite of the three, but I think the Tods bag might be more of what you're looking for.
Really though, all three bags are beautiful in my opinion. (sorry for the long ramble)
mr, I looked at mulberry and the leather seemed so thin and cheap- even compare to coach! I do need an intervention.
magnolia, the ferragamo handle stands up when it's worn across so it's a little odd too. That's my only hesitation with the bag.
v, that is good to know. I have an old tod's I started using again recently and it's very well made and comfortable. The only issue is that some of the stitching has frayed which makes it look cheap but the leather is still perfect.
SA, this is my confusion! I really wanted a strictly crossbody but then I feel like I need something versatile b/c I will more than likely carry it in the crook of my arm too.
I think I'm going to go and try the bags with my own things in them and see what fits, what slouches etc. The thing I like about the ferragamo and the coach is that they have an outside pocket which comes in handy when dealing with train tickets for commuting.
