What is your house/decorating style??
I'm trying to pinpoint our exact style for when we start picking materials....what's your style??
I'd say our style is modern craftsman, and we love light and bright interiors.
Re: What is your house/decorating style??
Coastal/Cottage which is unfortunate since we live in MN :-( Someday I'll get closer to my beloved FL.

My style is traditional; H is drawn to more modern stuff.
But we both think it's important to consider the style of the house in the decor. The house we are in the process of buying is very craftsman.... wanna help me decorate it? lol.
HOUSE BLOG
I tend to like craftsman, transitional, and some cottage.
I struggle with what my house "is." It's a 1980's suburban side hall colonial that is pretty noncommittal as to style.
My HOUSE style is Colonial.
My DECOR style is Modern.
My Decor style is eclectic. We mix and match pieces from all styles. The constants are mid tone woods, clean lines and a blue-green-brown-beige palette.
My house style is a Cape on the exterior. The interior has been stripped back to the studs and refinished into a light filled airy space with open floor plan.
My current house is a 90s SoCal tract home that is non style with a nod here and there to Craftsman, Mediterranean and SoCal suburbia.
Our decorating style in this house is influenced by the architectural details, but is very eclectic. It is very much a reflection of my style...all over the place but somehow makes sense.
My decorating style is traditional/old world vintage-antique.
Not matchy-matchy, but finding unique "pieces" and decorating a room around them. I like dark wood, intricate woodwork, rich and warm colors (burgundy, olive green, golds, bronzes, browns, cream, etc)
I tend to find my inspirations in consignment shops and antique stores... it's all about finding the beauty in something someone else no longer wants/needs!
Some examples:
I love everything in swimbike's post.
My home is very Colonial looking. My dream home style would be a massive farmhouse with a huge wrap-around porch. I'm not sure what my decorating style is. I guess it's very Southern, but casual. Not country. Definitely not modern or mid-century. I do love me a Ballards catalog, too.
Our current house is cheapo modular style. LOL My ideal house is farmhouse or colonial in style. I like big, square/rectangular box-houses. With two stories. And giant porches.
As far as decorating goes, our style is what I'd call "comfortable eclectic". As in, I want the house to feel warm and comfortable. And I buy what I like, then make it work together. We will never make a magazine spread and that's ok by me.
Yup.
French country meets coastal meets MCM. With pet friendly materials.
