Where did you buy rocker/glider with a pattern upholstry?

I am looking for a rocker/glidder in a stripped fabric, so can't buy from a baby store.  Don't need the ottaman, but might want to get one.  Everything I see in furniture stores is $1200+....hoping to spend less.  Has anyone purchased one and willing to share where they bought it or the manufacturer?

Re: Where did you buy rocker/glider with a pattern upholstry?

  • I bought one used and recovered it in the fabric I liked. It's nothing fancy, just a plain wooden glider with an upholstered seat and back cushion, so it was really easy to just sew a cover to go right over both cushions.

  • PBK Outlet but if I were ding it again I would ABSOLUTELY buy one on CL and have it reupholstered. I am having it reupholstered for DD2 and I was quoted $100 not including fabric. I can't wait!!!

  • my sister gave me her old glider but I hated the covers so I had new cushions made using this website:

     http://cozycushions.com/gliderrocker.html

I had to send measurements of the cushions and mail her the arm cushions, but I got to pick out my own fabric and I was completely happy with the results. I wish I could post a picture, but for some reason picasa isn't letting me upload right now.

I chose an orange fabric white big white circles on it and it came out really cute. If i recall correctly, I spent about $200 for the cushions (included back cushion, seat cushion, arm pads and ottoman cushion. I also paid extra to make them extra thick), but the glider was free so it was budget-friendly! Maybe you can find a used glider at a consignment shop or craigslist and then have the cushions custom made?

  • Why can't you buy one at a baby store? We went to a nicer one (not Babies R Us!) to shop for our glider/recliner. We ended up liking a Best Chair the best but also really liked a Dutalier. Both are fully upholstered and come in tons of fabrics that you have to select when you place your order, just like most better furniture stores.
