My BF and I want to foster dogs. Any questions that I should ask regarding the organization? I know they pay for the food/vet bills but that is about all I know. What else should I ask?

Re: Fostering questions
This is what I thought. I was surprised that are willling to pay for the food. I want to ask what their funding comes from.

We are on a break from fostering (due to DS), but I think these were things we asked about:
medical care - all medical care is covered by the shelter; we bring the kittens to the shelter for treatment
food - the shelter provides food (Science Diet
, but it's free and we often have the kittens for such a short period of time that it's not worth it to switch because they will eat it at the shelter)
training/support for you (and the dog) - what if it the foster doesn't get along with your dog (if you have one?)? We asked about mingling our cats with the foster kittens and the recommendation was to keep them separated. I know with dogs it is different.
screening of adopters - our shelter handles this; we typically have kittens for a couple of weeks and then when they are ready to enter the adoption program, we bring them back
GL! I love fostering and have really missed it the last couple of months, but it would not have been fair to ask DH to take care of our 5 plus fosters. I was so exhausted towards the end of 3rd tri and I was also in grad school. I can't wait until we can start fostering again.
