What color floor registers?
I feel like an idiot for agonizing over this.
Right now we have beige carpet but will be changing over to wood in the next year. H doesn't like the idea of wood registers. I'm looking at satin nickle, matte black, and white:

A lot of the ones in the house are broken and need replacing. Does anyone have any thoughts on if they should blend in or not blend in? I already ruled out copper because it will draw too much attention.
Re: What color floor registers?
I have never thought about this lol. All ours are white, I think. I only have one "fancy" one and it's only because the size meant I was limited to what I could buy and I wanted white (to match the rest) so it was a scrolly one instead of the plain slats like your last one.

I don't get him not liking wood registers. I mean, when done correctly they blend in with your wood floors seamlessly. I don't know why someone would purposefully want a contrasting vent on their wood.
I realize you don't have wood now but are getting it - so why get new vent covers now when you can have seamless wood ones installed after switching out flooring later? If you have to get covers now- I would get what ever cheapest until the wood ones.
In our old house they were brass.
Out of those, I'd prefer black.
Ours are all white, and really kind of need a spray painting to spiff them up a little.
I'd probably do black on the floor, or something that would coordinate with the iron light fixtures I tend to pick. I like the last one you PIPed the least (in terms of color) just because it's the brightest, and would blend in the least.
Thanks everyone! I was leaning towards the matte black since it will kind of match the oil rubbed bronze that I tend to lean towards and I think it will blend into the wood reasonably well. You ladies made that much easier and now I can resume being a productive human being.
As far as why he doesn't like wood registers - who knows? Sometimes he just decides he doesn't like things and since he pretty much lets me have whatever I want decor-wise, I try to let him have the few weird things he requests.
We actually need them fairly soon since most of the ones we have in the house now don't open or close. Our first floor bathroom has a major wind stream pointing right at the toilet, which is just awkward and our bedroom isn't getting any heat because the vents won't budge.
It's the $1,000,000 question! My H feels strongly about white kitchen cabinets, so I feel you. I think the matte black will look nice with wood if it matches the rest of your metal finishes.

Matching wood floor registers are +$60 a pop! So I understand why your husband might not want them. They are also harder to install and have to be replaced when you get new flooring.
I like black because it disappears. We're replacing all of our registers and went with ORB to match the door hardware in all of the rooms (which we're also replacing).
Is he pro or anti white? We're fighting this battle now because painting them white is really the lowest cost option. I want white and he thinks it will make the kitchen too boring which makes no sense because right now the cabinets are wood with a very light stain and everything is beige - the counters, the back splash, the paint.
Anti! Even the nice ones you can buy at the store that are made to BE white he thinks look cheap. And those are the ones I really like lol.
Good luck with your "battle"!

I spray painted my old registers with dark brown. I was working at RH and I was going to purchase ORB registers. We had just moved in to our condo, and we were spending a ton of money on other projects, so I figured, why not try to spray paint the ones we had just to see how they turned out. That was seven years ago and we still really like the way they look. The rest of our hardware in the living spaces are ORB.
In our bathroom, I did purchase a nickle vent cover to match the nickle hardware...
