I have worn glasses since kindergarden. For a long time I could get away with not wearing them. Unfortunatly as I have gotten to be an old lady I find it to be impossible to not wear them for any length of time.
I have tried contacts 2 times in the past and found them hard to put in and uncomfortable when they were in. I felt that I could see around the edges of them (if that makes sense). It was very distracting. However, I am wondering if I should try them again.
I love that glasses are easy to put on when I am rushing in the AM but I also would like to be able to wear contacts if we are going out someplace nice etc. Sorry for the rambling...just curious if anyone else had trouble with contacts or I am the only dork who cannot get used to the feel of having something in my eye lol.
Re: Do you wear glasses or contacts? Why?
I have contacts and wer glasses at night.
I got glasses at 10 years old and contacts at 14.
I love contacts because glasses just get in the way sometimes. On an off day I don't mind wearing glasses but for special occasions I like having my contacts to wear.
I actually plan on getting consulted on lasik. I'm trying to save money to pay cash for it
I wear contacts. I have needed glasses/contacts since 2nd grade. Should have got them earlier but I didn't know enough to tell my parents I couldn't see, I thought it was normal.
I don't like glasses for the same reason you don't like contacts. I feel like my vision is so narrow because I can see my blindness around the edges of the frame. I have NEVER had that problem with contacts. I wonder if maybe they were too small for your eyeball. I also feel like I can see better with contacts, that my vision is more brilliant.
I'd try again if I were you with contacts. Explain what your issues are to the eye doctor and see if they can find a type that fits your needs.
I have glasses that stay at work that I wear only when I'm on the computer. I was going home with terrible headaches and tired eyes. They aren't very strong but just the little boost really helps!
Contacts. I've worn them for twenty years. I have glasses for the evenings or when I've come down with pinkeye or something and can't wear contacts, but I just could never adjust to glasses, I was always dizzy and couldn't stand the world moving around when I turned my head.
Contacts were uncomfortable for about the first two weeks I wore them, and then they never bothered me again.
Also, I recently got new ones that are some sort of gel material and they feel fantastic and seem to disappear on my eye. They've been great. No dryness in the eyes or anything.
Contacts since 14, glasses for probably 5 plus years prior. I got contacts because I was a tomboy athlete who would have to go in weekly to get my glasses straightened out because of playing sports, etc. My mom finally got fed up with that and got me contacts going into high school and I have never wanted to wear my glasses outside my home again.
I have weekly contacts that I can sleep in and only need to take out once a week. Love them!! Horrible eyesight and it drove me crazy when I woke up and had to find my glasses to see anything. Also, I cannot drive with my glasses because my side vision moving quickly by makes me want to throw up
Both. Sometimes I wear glasses, sometimes contacts.
Try contacts again. They've come a long way. Mine are usually very comfortable, though I do take them out almost as soon as I get home at night. when they get old, they get uncomfortable and I can feel them. One thing I do notice is that I squint more when I'm wearing contacts -- I think my pupil reacts more slowly or something, b/c things seem brighter/lighter.
I'd never get lasik, because I sometimes like the way I look with glasses and like the option. Glasses are a neat accessory.

How long ago did you wear contacts? Even in the past few years, they've come light years from where they were.
I wear 2-week lenses. I love contacts because I can see peripherally, and am not limited to the shape of my glasses. They stay put, and I can wear whatever I want for sunglasses.
I wear glasses around the house/on weekends.
I got glasses at 9 and contacts at 12.
I prefer contacts because it just seems easier. I don't have to worry about them getting messed up or wearing them when I run or getting them scratched.
When I'm eligable for lasik I want to get it.

I wear glasses.
I got them when I was 12, so I've had them for about 15 years now.
I've only ever worn glasses, never contacts. Anything touching my eye totally freaks me out. I even have trouble using eye drops.
You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be misquoted and used against you. My Blog
I wear both. I've been wearing glasses since I was 7 and I've been wearing contacts since I was 17.
I usually wear my contacts in public and I wear my glasses at home. I love contacts more because I can do more with them without worry about my glasses falling off my face.
I've worn contacts since I was 12. I wore hard contacts for a long time, because they were supposed to prevent your vision from getting worse, and have worn soft contact for about 6 years now.
I don't like glasses because I hate pushing them up my nose and blurry vision out the sides of them. I also don't like to look of glasses on me.
Ive worn only glasses since kindergarten, mostly.
I have worn contacts, but I dont wear them long because they irritate my eyes after a few hours.
I love my glasses, they are much easier to wear. The only thing that I dont like is when it rains or snows, they get foggy.
My eye dr said since I have an astigmatism, Im a perfect candidate for lasik. So that could be a possibility in the next few years.
I have worn contacts since junior high. I started with hard lenses, but thankfully switched to soft after a few years and will never go back.
I wear my glasses in the evenings and mornings. The scrip is not 100% up-to-date, so they're a little fuzzy for driving.
I strongly prefer contacts because my field of vision is wider, I can wear regular sunglasses, and I think they're more comfortable.
