What to wear...

Ladies...I need help! I wrote the content for a site that is now receiving an award and I will be attending the awards banquet. I'm representing both my organization and the client we developed the site for (gov agency).

I will be attending the dinner with a senior member of our client's team (he served as my editor). He is planning on wearing a sports coat (so not suit or tux). And I have no idea what to wear! I'm thinking something black, fairly simple...but I can't find exactly what I'm looking for when I look at my go-to sites for "stuff like that" (Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, Ann Taylor Loft)

Any ideas?

You don't like any of the dresses at BR? I love them! Granted, my favorite is not black but blue and white ikat. Here are some black dresses and some black/white. I may be assuming a lot in choosing only dresses, but...

I second Munkii's suggestions.  You absolutely can never go wrong with a cute little black dress.  Get some fun colored shoes or some bright jewelry to go with.

I haven't been able to get on here for a while... not sure if it was just me or the nest.  What did you decide to wear?

It was definitely the nest; in fact, there was a mass migration of other boards onto a new forum.

Yeah, the nest gods sorta killed their community by not paying attention to how badly things got messed up.
