<3 My daughter gave me the finger today! <3
Some mothers have to wait for their children to become teenagers to get the finger for the first time. Others will never get it at all. I didn't even have to wait a week! I know she has no idea what it means and probably isn't even aware at 3 days old that she did something with her hand, but OH MY GOD! It was so precious. I was BFing her and kept having to mess with her feet to wake her up and get her to eat more, and I said something like, "Finish eating and then I'll let you sleep, little girl!" Then she looked, I swear, right at me and up went that tiny little middle finger. It was one of the more adorable things she has done so far (and she does a lot of adorable things). I realize there will come a day when it doesn't melt my heart when my child makes a rude gesture at me, but for now I completely love it. I hope that when she makes the "jerking off" gesture at me while I'm talking to her, I have my iPhone handy this time so I can show my H. He's really sad he was in the other room and missed it.
