This is exactly what I need for my kitchen because the sun is blinding when I'm trying to make dinner.
I've never tried to do anything like this before and am afraid it will look like a kindergarden did it! I can't imagine how I would iron the sides straight.
I'm tempted just to order from Etsy but then I looked at some prices. I just need one!
Re: Has anyone made these?
A link would help.

Your link is decoraholic, so someone here did it themselves.
There are quite a few others that have done it in the past, and they all looked so nice that I have considered doing a sewn version using miniblinds, just because I like the way they look. I just can't bring myself to do an iron on version, since I am a seamstress.lol
Aw, that's mine
The cutting and ironing was the most time consuming part. I just used the pattern as a guide when ironing, and since I ironed before gluing it was easy to just re-iron if it wasn't quite straight.
Yes I did. Super easy. Here's what it looks like (I still haven't put a front flap on it. Oops):
Here's the link I used from Pinterest
Good Luck!
Decoraholic - You are awesome for this link!
And Sweet Sadie Mae - I love yours!
cool idea!
the thrift stores near me are full of those blinds.
Yeah, I'd worry that the fabric glued to one little blind couldn't hold weight when you put it up. Did that make sense?
Why would it not hold the weight? It is glued in many places, and there isn't really that much weight. It isn't like the blind slats are heavy.
Agree. It seems to hold okay, though we don't raise and lower ours that often. Even if it did come unglued eventually, it's easy to glue back on
. You're essentially gluing fabric on top of blinds, so the blinds are still functioning normally and are bearing all of the weight. The fabric doesn't do the pulling.
I used a fairly heavy canvas-esque fabric for mine (indoor-outdoor fabric) and it's held up beautifully for the last year and a half!
OP- my fabric has a geometric print and it was SO easy to do using the pattern in the fabric as my guide (totally cheating but who cares?! It was quick and easy!)
Planned Executed
My fabric weight comment was not so much as to the function on the blind, but more along the lines of:
--will it drape nicely
--will the glue come (show) through the fabric
Thin fabric used in this application can easily look like a cheap DIY project.
A proper fabric weight can make a nice shade, See the photo above.
