What do you read on a long plane ride?

I'll be taking two 6-hour flights next week.  Thinking of picking up the last Game of Thrones to keep myself occupied, but maybe I want something more chick-lit and lighter than that, not sure.  Will probably stop at the library first before a bookstore.

What do you all read?

Re: What do you read on a long plane ride?

  • TPS reports!

Forreals though, I usually have a few options. A fiction book, and something non-fiction, and then also a magazine depending on the flight length.

  • I just reread Summer Sisters last night for about the billionth time.  I loved it as much as ever.

Ahh! I forgot I have a double edition book of Judy Blume's.  Wifey and Smart Women (obviously I bought this when I was going through my divorce, since they're both about starting over or finding failure in their respective marriages).

  • Btw, Kuus, I just read the Summer Sisters synopsis...do you think Caitlin pulls a Kate Chopin and drowns herself?

  • Always super light stuff. Nothing I have to think about because I have no attention span on airplanes. Although, my last long flight i read Watership Down (wonder why).

I usually end up watching movies anyhow.

I agree with everything that muddled said. You should listen to her. -ESDReturns
  • No matter how much I tell myself not to, I always get lured in by Hudson News and buy like 10 magazines. Then I hate myself as I lug them through the airport. Every.single.time. But then I read them on the plane and enjoy myself immensely.

I like mindless stuff when I'm traveling.

    This is my siggy.
  • Fair warning: I've read the entire Game of Thrones series, and while you really need to read the last one ... it gets very stagnant (Like the last one did, only with the "good" characters this time, lol), and quite a few times I had to put it down and walk away because I was just too frustrated with how slow the plot was chugging along (FTR, I absolutely loved the first 3).

Anyway, when I travel, I try to stick with "light" fiction. I'm flying to Mexico in a week, and I plan on re-reading books from the Janet Evanovich "Stephanie Plum" series. I'm a nervous flyer, so I try to go with stuff that's funny and just holds my attention enough to keep me realizing I'm out of Xanax, lol
