Guys, people call DD Geneva... a lot.

Huh? I DO NOT LIKE the name Geneva. Strangers read her name and come up with this. My f*cking uncle (who I'm positive can read) did it. Do people only look at the first five letters in every long word? Is Geneva really more common than Genevieve? I called her Geneva as a joke the other night and Dh got all super serious with the "That's not funny. Don't do that.".

  • Tell them she's not a city in Switzerland.  They'll get it.

No kidding! It's all the effing Brooklyn's and Parises that allow for lazy crappy reading comprehension.

  • People are morons. It's like the people who see a baby dressed all in pink and with a bow in the hair and will still call the baby a boy.  durrrr

  • it's laziness.

same reason people call my husband the feminized version of his name (the feminized version is more common than the male version). despite the fact that it's spelled differently.

    kiss it, nest.
  • I'd say it was laziness, too, except Geneva and Genevieve have the same number of syllables.
  • I get that it's annoying, but I also don't think it's absolutely crazy - I could see myself possibly making the mistake (maybe once, although if corrected I would remember).  My sister's name is Isabelle and people often call her Elizabeth.  No joke.
