Ooh, Mommy Dearest is on. I love this movie!
Unfortunately, I missed the wire hanger scene, but it's still good.
We should do a virtual book club and all read the actual book. By the by, she had adopted two other children, both girls I think, who say Christina and her brother Christopher were lying.
Re: Ooh, Mommy Dearest is on. I love this movie!
I remember I called my mom 'Mommy Dearest' when I was trying to suck up to her one night. This did not go over well. I got the "Don't you ever call me that again" speech.
I never even understood until a few years after that. lol.
The wire hanger scene is my favorite. My H made me watch this movie after my mother flipped out on me for leaving a cup out on the counter.
That's interesting. I wonder when she adopted them because they are completely omitted from the movie (which I've watched at least 100 times). If that's true, that's really sad because most people will remember Joan Crawford as Mommy Dearest and not as the actress she was.
That is my favorite movie ever! I had it on vhs and now on dvd. I watch it about once a year
I have already read the book too. The other girls were included in the will: one got a lot more than the other which leads some credibility to the movie version of events. (Yeah, I am too much of a psycho about this
I'm pretty sure I had this same conversation with my mom when I was younger. And I didn't get it either.
I saw the movie a few years later, but didn't pick up on the fact that it was a "true story".
Now I want to see it again...
Me too!
Where did you find it? The one I found wasn't the right one... it was some other story...
