Greeting Cards

There is a post about greeting cards on C&O right now that got me thinking.

Greeting cards are so pricey and I truely dislike buying them. My rule was to never spend more than $3 on a single card and now that is pretty much impossible. My new rule is $4.

What do you all do for cards? Or, do you care?

Re: Greeting Cards

  • I usually don't spend more than $1.50 - 2 unless I find something that is just perfect. Cards are not clever enough for me to want to spend more on them. I have a cousin who send a gift card for $23.00 and included that rather than buying a card, she put the money should have spent on to the gift card. I thought that was cute.

I make all of mine after getting into stamping over a year ago.  I really enjoy it and my relatives all enjoy seeing what I will come up with next.
  • I always buy the 99cent Hallmark cards.

  • I try to do not more than 4 a card at most.  When picking cards out, I look at prices, I don't care if that makes me cheap or not.  It gets silly when I have to buy like 4 or more Father's day cards.  One for dd to give my husband, her two grandpas and then add on any cards I want to get for my husband or our dads.  It's such a waste of money in my opinion, but I know some people really like getting cards.

  • Papyrus had a massive clearance sale three years ago where their pricey cards were $1 each. I stocked up and am still using them. I'm hoping they have one again someday. I literally have cards with $18 price tags (they have bells and whistles) that I bought for $1.
  • Dollar store.

I have Hallmark Card Studio on my computer but I never remember to use it.

  • Ross always sells big boxes of cards and the cards are so, so pretty.  The boxes never cost more than $15 and you get 30+ in a box. They are really awesome cards that look handmade (in a good way) with pop-ups, stickers, jewels, etc.  I just bought a big box of Disney ones for $6.99 and I think there are 40 in the box.  These cards would easily be $4+/each in the stores. Plus, I always have cards for all occasions on hand.

  • I try to buy really different cards, handmade or otherwise when I come across a good deal somewhere, but I rarely give cards anymore, and when I do, I rarely spend more than $2.

Honestly, no one seems to miss them....they would rather have the gift than the card.

  • I get mine from the Dollar Store for 50 cents each.
