It was insanely humid here this morning, so I wasn't planning on it being a 5K PR or anything for me - just wanted to be close to my current PR. I forgot my Garmin and went out way too fast. DH was racing too, and I was right behind him for a while, so I finally said to him: "either you're going way too slow or I'm going way too fast". Well I guess it was me because I definitely slowed down a bit towards the end, as the humidity really started to get to me. Then the course had to take all these twists and turns through a carnival set up at the baseball stadium where the race ends. It was weird, and there was a lot of deep gravel.
I ended up finishing in 26:56 which is 10 seconds above my PR. I was happy enough, and DH did really well, so we watched the kids fun runs, then went home. Well it turns out by some freak occurrence, I came in 2nd in my age group! All the other groups had women put up some awesome times, but somehow my time was good enough for 2nd. Sweet! Hope I can get my prize - it's from a local jewelry store!
