Microfiber Sheets?

I'm making notes for DS's bedroom decor. He is two right now, but we are planning for the switch to his big boy bed, which is actually a bunk bed with a full on bottom and a twin on top (he won't be up there for some time.)

Anyway, since I have to buy two sets of sheets and then two more sets for when the first set is being washed, I'm trying to get something pretty decent but not pricey.

I've looked at all the major online retailers and I'm looking for a chocolate brown color. And, I'd like to spend less then $30 per set. Many of the options that are in this price range are microfiber.

I don't have any experience with this material for bedding. Aside from reading that it's good for allergy sufferers, I don't know much else (DS does not have allergies).

My main concern is that it would sweat him out and not be breathable.

What are your thoughts? Should I just pay more and buy cotton?

Re: Microfiber Sheets?

  • Don't have any experience with microfiber sheets but for what it's worth I love the tee shirt material sheets for comfort & price. You can get them at Target sometimes for $19.99 a set, all sizes.  I am sure I've seen brown.
  • Have you checked TJMaxx, Homegoods, and Marshalls? I find most of my sheets there and find they are my favorites over the 3x more expensive sheets I have from a major retailer.

  • I'm not a fan of microfiber, I never sweat in bed, but I did with these, even in the winter.  I'm a huge fan of the bed bath and beyond bamboo sheets, they're like the t-shirt ones only softer.

Thanks. I looked online there. I see the sheets and read the reviews...apparently they changed the sheets somewhat and they are now 50% cotton and 50% recycled plastic bottles. I'm all for going green, but many reviews complained of a strong plastic smell even after washing three times. Sad It's looking like I'm just going to spend some money and get good cotton sheets for him.

  • awww that's too bad but thanks for the information. I'll keep that in mind before buying them again.
