Pretty impressed with my H......

So my H just recently retired (he's 39) and I have to admit to ya'll that I was kind of worried that he would be sitting around at home drinking foofy drinks and kicking his feet up.  NOT AT ALL.  Keep in mind that the two things he detests most in the world is painting and yard work....

In his first two weeks he has painted a large arbor, our wrought iron gate, bought a dyson and thoroughly cleaned the house, trimmed trees and dug a trench for one of our rock/flower beds.  I have no idea who this man is, but I love him ha ha

AND he keeps apologizing for not getting more done... feels like he has to pull his weight now that he has no steady income.  Its weird to me because I do pretty well earnings wise and he has always out earned me by 3X or more (he owned his own business) so I'm sure that's messing with his head....

Re: Pretty impressed with my H......

  • What's he going to do with himself for the next 40 years or so?

  • For the next few years he'll be in school... he's about halfway done with his bachelors degree but he's just not a school guy.  He's smart but doesn't have confidence (he is dyslexic).  He also will keep the household running and keep up with our two boys who are headed to Jr high.

After that, I don't know.  He will probably have to always have his own business because I can't see him not being in charge or going to an office job for 40 hours a week... he's run a multimillion dollar family business for many years... if I'm totally honest, I don't really care if he ever goes back to work.

  • I was just curious.

So he plans on running a business again in a few years. That's cool.
