Are fake flowers ever ok?
I usually hate fake flowers. But I have two spots that look fantastic with red roses. It's hard for me to keep up with fresh flowers! Should I cave and buy fake? Or ideas on alternatives for the mantel and dining table?

Yes. Some of them are extremely real looking, and even feel real to the touch. The good quality ones like this are CRAZY expensive.
I think so. I don't really care what people think, I like them in certain spots in my house. I try to get the ones that look real.
However, I do draw the line at fake flowers outside. My neighbor has some on her garage. It's never ok for fake flowers outside.
There are some amazing, very realistic fake flowers/plants out there, but the most convincing of the them are very, very expensive.
It seems like they are usually not easy to keep clean though, and I think that the dust is the big giveaway and what cheapens the look.
I have some fake white hydrangea I got from PB Outlet. I like them
At Christmas I have some fake amaryllis I put in its place.
I wouldn't go overboard with fake flowers, but I think they can look nice in the right application.
I disagree. I have been doing a lot of research on fake flowers for my window boxes and there is a lot out there that look great. I have read that plain greens are great for boxes. I have issues with my window box flowers never lasting (due to my laziness, I admit). I do have a neighbor that "plants" plastic flowers instead of annuals/perennials and it is very odd looking and, I agree, something you should never do.
Go Phils!!
