Do you typically get the teacher a gift for the end of the year? This is S's first year of school so I have no idea how this works.

Re: Moms of preschool kids..
I don't have kids in Preschool but I am a Preschool Teacher so I can share that side. Truthfully it is up to you. Most parents get a little something for Teacher's Appreciation Week as well as the end of the year. But it is mostly a thank you card. I myself have received gifts from some kids and nothing but a hug from the other kids and both makes me smile. And miss the kids more after they are gone.
But like I said it is always up to you, the parent.
When I worked at one, most of the parents did something.
It was usually something small-ish, like a gc to a coffee shop or a small box of chocolates. Rarely did anyone spend more than $10 or so. If you like the teacher, I would give something. Everyone likes to be appreciated and teaching can some times (often times?) seem like a thankless job.
Awesome, thanks.
We really love her so want to do something. We'll make a card and do a GC. Thanks.
Get her a single stem of something, even something from your yard. Have your son present it to her.
MELTS YOUR HEART EVERY DAMN TIME.
Oh, that is a great idea! Will definitely do this.
aaaaa that is so sweet. I know that the teachers are going to LOVE that!
how funny you mention this. Tomorrow kicks off Teacher (and staff!) appreciation week at my kids' school. They're 2 and 4!
They really ease you in. Get this
Monday: we are to have the kids make cards at home and bring them in for the teachers. seems simple and fitting. okay, I'm a go.
Tuesday: We bring breakfast treats for a potluck. eh, whatever. I can do this
Wednesday: flowers! I'm starting to eyeroll but okay
Thursday: classroom "beautification" otherwise known as "since the school must not be giving the teachers a bunch of supplies from the $2K you kick down per month for their edumucation", why don't you bring --- chalk, puzzles, books, toys. new, of course!
give me a break
and we finish with a bang on Friday:
gift cards from your teachers favorite store or restaurant!!!
you gotta be kiddin me!!!!!
I saw this on Pinterest, I think I am going to do this.
LOL we got a full page letter sent home about the various things we are supposed to do for teacher appreciation week. It is out of control.
Wow! Thankfully no school I worked for ever did something like THAT. I say that it's up to the parents not the school what the kids give to their teachers. *rolls eyes*
Yeah, we're doing some stuff for TA week next week, too. I'm volunteering for the events and buying $30 worth of coffee, that's it. I mean, I'm all for doing nice things for the teacher but I've bought Chritmas presents, birthday presents and will buy end of the year presents for both the teacher and her aide. I think that should do it.
I'm going to do a $10 GC to Starbucks, have S make her a card and bring her a flower. I'm not sure what I'm going to do for the aide.
