Dumb baby shower question

How far in advance should I mail invites? Mom to be texted me and told me July 29. (We were trying to narrow down dates). I'm ordering invites from shutterfly, so by the time I order and they arrive, it'll be late May. I know I have plenty of time, I just don't know when to send. End of June? Mid June? If it makes a difference, I'm going to put an RSVP date about a week before so I can order food etc.

While I'm at it, cute game suggestions that aren't the usual stupid games?

    I say mid June.

    These don't exist.  sorry.

I usually send invitations 4-6 weeks before the event (if there's a lot of out of town people I try to give more time) and I also set the RSVP date 2 weeks before the event because I usually have to follow up with at least half the list and I want to make sure I have time to get a more solid number.

No game suggestions here...I'm currently stumped on what to do for my sister's shower that I'm planning, haha.

Haha, good point. Let me rephrase: Game suggestions that aren't completely horrible and/or the least amount of suck. I refuse to do bingo.

  • Since that"s prime vacation time, early-mid june for invites.

All shower games suck.  I've done something like this at two showers and the mums have loved it~ http://issasarza.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/baby-shower-games-wishes-for-baby-card-2-1024x700.jpg

Good call on vacations - thats why I wasn't sure. We actually had to push it back twice because of conflicts with important people (the grandma to be, etc.)

This was the one idea I actually had. I saw it on pinterest.

Glad to know someone has seen it done and that it went over moderately well.

    Thanks ladies!!

  • The best shower game I've ever "played" is the mom to be sets a egg timer before opening gifts. The giver of the gift she is opening when the timer goes off wins a prize. No participation necessary.

Funny you mention this, because the woman I'm throwing the shower for was my MOH. When she threw my bridal shower, we did this. And people liked it a lot. :) Thanks!

  • Oh, I like that wishes to baby thing. I did something similar for my friend's bridal showr. I bought 4x6 index cards and one of those little photo albums(that only hold 20 pictures) from Target. Everyone wrote advice or anything they wanted to, and I collected them and put them in the album. It was cheap and people wrote some very touching things and very funny things.

  • Now I remember! My advice was something that was written in a ML'ers sig- the "don't go to bed mad, stay up and plan your revenge".  Don't remember who it was, but thanks!

    It was Sue_sue

One of the games we played at my baby shower had no audience participation.  The hostess blindfolded me and handed me a gift bag with various baby items in it.  I had to guess what each one was.  I thought it was fun and I rocked it.
