I am getting ready to strip wallpaper from my dining room and kitchen. I plan to do the dining room in 2 shades of green (above and below the chair rail). What would be a good complimentary color for the kitchen? I would love to do a wedgewood (smoky) blue color, but the rooms are so close, I feel it would not be cohesive enough. You can see from the foyer, through the dining room straight into the kitchen. I don't want it to look like something from a crayon box.
Also, regarding the dining room. Would you do the darker color on the top or bottom? The colors are Valspar Ancient Olive and Hazy Jade.

Re: Paint colors?
Our dining room is a light green and our kitchen is yellow. I think those shades go well together. I think the blue color you mentioned would go as well.
I painted a 2'x2' practice board in green and one in the yellow and hung them on the walls at an adjoining spot to make sure the colors matched well. I kept them up for a couple days to make sure I liked the combination at all times of the day. You could try that with some samples if you are still having trouble deciding?
+ I like a darker color on the bottom, IMO.

I think the two colors you've mentioned sound nice together.
This is just a personal thing, but I prefer to paint the same color on both sides of a chair rail.
