MH and I ran the Jersey Shore Marathon in Long Branch yesterday.
I went into it with the mindset of just running a nice long run. And it was just that!
The course was changed from the past 3 years and i really liked it. There were 2 small hills (going over bridges) and the remainder was flat. I was pacing at 9:15/mile for most of the race (30sec faster than my training long runs) until mile #9 where my right knee started pounding. I slowed down a bit and walked during the 2 water stops. Then my foot started to get agrivated (I felt rubbing and just knew blisters were coming). At mile #11 adrenaline kicked in and I knew the end was near. Mile 12 was a breeze since I saw the finish flags on the boardwalk.
I felt great and wasn't tired but just had this damm knee pain. It was a great finish (2h 5m) and I finished 7 minutes faster than last year (but was getting over a sinus infection last year).
So all in all it was a great half and I am looking for my next to do.

My home office. Joeyzlovieg's hubby made it for me. I love it!
Oh yes me too!! Luckily my hubby parked at 7 President's Park and thought ahead to bring me a sweatshirt for the car ride home.
