moms/ career types

I have a conference to attend next week that is about a 4 hour drive away. I just checked and I can fly in for under a hundred bucks. I don't know if I should fly in the day before and get some sleep at the conference hotel then fly home that evening. Or if I should just fly in and out the same day. I would save the money on the hotel and not be away from the family the night before, but it makes for a long day, I'd have to be at the airport by about 6am and I wouldn't get home until 11pm. Plus if the flight is delayed I would miss the conference.

Re: moms/ career types

  • I'd go the night before.  The family will be fine for a night w/o you!  Even before I had DS, I had to fly to and from Chicago i none day, and it was for was about a 3 hour meeting.  So I was home at a "normal" time- and it was pretty exhausting.

Go, give yourself a night to yourself! :)

  • Go the night before. You will be a exhausted mom anyways if you have that long of a day so why rush yourself just for the sake of getting home. :-)

I'd definitely go the night before. That sounds like a miserable day, if you're up by 5 and not home until closer to midnight.
    I like privacy. A lot.
  • Get the sleep.

This is the mom in me talking.

  • fly out the night before.  it's worth it to be ready for your conference.  this is a time to prioritize work over giving the kids baths and tucking them in.
    kiss it, nest.
  • I booked it for the day before. I have just been away from the kids a lot the past few weeks. I was out of town for work three weekends ago, two weekends ago I had the half marathon in miami and our anniversary so I was gone then and this past saturday I stayed overnight in a hotel downtown for a friend's birthday. But, they don't know that in two weeks we are going away for a family vacation for a week. So we will be able to really spend some time together.
