This was a great race! It was my first time running it -- last year I watched my husband b/c I was about 25 weeks pregnant.
The weather was my idea of perfect (50s, cloudy, light breeze), and they managed the crowds and corrals VERY well. There were 40,000 people, so it was not an easy task. The spectators were great -- you go by so many different neighborhoods, inner city, college campus, downtown, sports arenas, and end up at the Navy Yard, everything from old ladies in their Sunday best coming out from church, to grunge bands playing for you. Lots of water stops and Gatorade. The course is about a 130 foot drop from start to finish, and a straight shot, save for a slight curve around City Hall, so it is a fast course. All my hill training made the course a piece of cake, compared to what I usually run.
My thoughts: I did not wear the Garmin (DH did), and I wish I had. Though I was happy with my time, I feel like I could have pushed if I knew my pace. It's been years since I have raced that far, and I was so worried I was going too fast and would putter out. I also feel like next year I am going to move up a corral, esp. since I plan on being sub-9. I feel like my corral was full of people who either underestimated how fast they would be, or overestimated -- it was HUGE, and it really never spread out. A lot of stumbling and bobbing and weaving, and people walking very early on. I also wore a running skirt for the first time ever and I loved it I felt covered and un-wedgied and pretty cute! All in all, a great experience, I cannot wait until next year!

Glad you enjoyed it! I had many friends who ran it and thought it was great yesterday! I hope to run it next year, as well.
I did do the whole text message update for my friends. It was not accurate - it said she was running 16 min miles and her actual time was a 9 and a half min mile. It also didn't tell me when she finished the race until two hours later. Just keep that in mind if people want to follow you by text!
