Easiest and least expensive way to feed raw
I want to try my cat with bowel issues on a raw diet, but I'm stretched to the max on my budget. I also don't want to grind my own damn rabbit :::shudders::: or buy weird random ingredients.
I have 2 cats that have been free-fed for 9 years, and they refuse to eat on command, so separating them is hard. It really does need to be as cheap as possible if I'm going to feed 2 cats.
What's the easiest and least expensive (in combination) way that you feed your cat raw? Details and info greatly appreciated.
Re: Easiest and least expensive way to feed raw
Can you PM your email address?
How much is your current food costing? Dentals?
Buy meat when it's on sale. 2 15 lb cats will eat less than a pound a day. You can often find chicken and beef for less than $1/lb.
The hard part is getting the cats to eat raw...which I will leave to cat owners.
Have you seen my monkey?
We feed our 5 cats raw. We spend about $200 for 3 months of food. We go through 1 pound per day.
We go through a supplier, and don't order anything exotic. It is more expensive this way than buying at the grocery store, but the prep is so much easier, so it is worth it.

Are you in MD? You have to be available to pick it up the day it comes in (which is kind of a PITA, but like I said, we only have to do it every 3 months). They don't ship.
I can PM you the link if you are in MD. If not, check out the forums on yahoo...there are supplier links there.
There is premade raw available from some independent pet stores, but that is super pricey.
Also, I was just coming back to the post to tell you that our cats LOVE gizzards and hearts, and they are really cheap.

Here is the info on the premade raw.
It has too much bone for our cats, so we usually add some extra meat (gizzards are probably the cheapest).
