So... our ship was leaving out of Rome.

    Day 1- Rome

We went to the Etruscan necropolis.  Amazing!  Then we hopped on the ship for departure.

    Day 2- Sicily/Palermo:

We went to the little seaside town of Cefalu.  Got to see ancient baths, a gorgeous cathedral, had gelato and wine.

    Day 3- Tunisia

We went to the ruins at Carthage and to the little town of Sidi Bousaid where there is a great market place. I got one of my souvenir elephants and a great enamel bracelet.

    Day 4- At sea day

    Drank wine, read, ate.

Day 5- Barcelona (were here on our honeymoon)

Walked around, went to the Dali museum, had amazing paella, wine... stopped for Sangria.  Were involved in the proposal of the couple we had made friends with on our ship (that was SUPER exciting!)  Got another souvenir elephant.

Day 6- Monaco (were here on our honeymoon)

Rock of Monaco, Monte Carlo, saw the cathedral that Grace Kelly is buried at, saw the changing of the guard, gelato and wine

    Day 7- La Spezia, Italy

We were originally supposed to go to St. Maugerita, but for some reason- they had to reroute us (before the ship even left Rome).  This was a tiny little town. We basically walked around, had wine and gelato (do you see a running theme?)

I promise I'll post pics soon!  Most of them consist of me harassing cats in various countries.  H always laughs how most of our photos from other countries are of me harassing various local animals.

  • I can definitely think of worse ways to spend a week! A gelato and wine tasting tour sounds pretty great to me. I'm guess you had mojitos all day at sea?

I've never been on a cruise were I went to places where there was actually stuff to see once you got there. It seems nice.

I actually only has two mojitos.  Although Holland America has amazing food and is a gorgeous ship... I wasn't blown away by their mojitos.  They used a mix.  Royal Caribbean doesn't use a mix, and their mojitos are DELISH!  I pretty much stuck to riesling or prosecco.

And yeah, Muddled.  There was always something amazing to see when you got off the ship.  Very different than a Caribbean cruise.  Although I love those because it's basically about relaxing... it doesn't feel as pressing to get off the ship because it's all pretty much the same thing.  Definitely not the case with a Mediterranean cruise.

  • I'm a little sad about the mojitos. Does anyone like mojitos from a mix? Anyone??

Trashy people, that's who!  I'm already a little bummed that my Bermuda cruise (3 months) will also be on Holland America so I wont get a decent mojito then either.  Maybe I can ask them not to put the mix... hmmmm... they still put limes and mint leaves in, so I don't even know why the mix was needed.

  • Lol.

I suggest you sit at that bar and taste every drink that interests you until you find one that's worth repeat visits.
