Has anyone painted vinyl siding?

If so, did you DIY or hire a professional?  What kind of paint did you use?  Are you happy with the results and have you had any issues with warping?

Our house really needs a refresher and I need to get on this project stat.  We already need the trim painted so it seems obvious to go ahead and do the vinyl too if we can.

Thanks!

Re: Has anyone painted vinyl siding?

  • I have but not on my house. (Through a community volunteer program sort of like Habitat.) Every year, the head contractor guy recommends the all the rehabilitation  projects and one year we had vinyl siding that we painted. I believe we just used regular Sherwin Williams exterior latex paint. When I drive by the house years later, it still looks great. Just make sure to thoroughly power wash first!
  • I did on our old house. It was white vinyl, so I used Behr Paint and Primer in a yellow color. Coverage was great, and the paint still looks good 2 years later.
