Silly kid.

If we're FB friends you already know this.

Toddler Malibu hit 17 months on Saturday. She also chose that day to climb out of her crib and come hopping onto our bed at 7:30 in the morning, waking me up and scaring the daylights out of me, and leaving me completely puzzled as to how her tiny self had not only gotten out of the crib, but had escaped without breaking a bone or falling on her head.

So we turned her crib into the toddler bed last night. After tucking her into her new bed (which she'd played on all day because without that extra crib side, it's now apparently the coolest thing evah!), she got up to toddle out into the living room no less than ten times before I went to bed, and who knows how many times after I'd gone to sleep. She was so tired, but refused to stay in bed with all this newfound freedom beckoning her.

When I got up at 4:30 to get ready to leave for the gym, I went in to check on her. H had rolled up our comforter and stuck it next to her bed in case she rolled off (the bed rail I bought was a gigantic piece of crap and was missing a piece so I have to get a new one), and where is my child? Sprawled out on the hardwood floor, sound asleep.

Oh, FFS.

Re: Silly kid.

  • I assume this is why little ones have so much baby fat. To help them bounce better when they fall.
  • Ha, right?
    Oh, FFS.
  • Aw, cute little toddler Malibu!

We are talking about moving DD to a toddler bed but she's still happy in her crib and honestly, I'm not that eager to do the whole stay-in-your-bed battle.

This morning I was changing DD for daycare and she kicked the wipes container off the changing table and said "Uh oh, sorry!" I was so proud of her for saying sorry (plus it came out "Sowwy" all adorable-like) I didn't even care that I suspect she kicked the wipes off on purpose. Every time she exhibits good manners, I feel like I'm momentarily winning at parenthood. So far we've got sorry, please, thank you and you're welcome down.

  • I put a doorknob cover on Little Geek's doorknob.  He just would.not.stay.in.his.room much less his bed, because, yes, it is the best thing evah!!

We finally upgraded to a "really big big boy bed" (new twin-size bed) and he seems to be really enjoying it so I'm half tempted to take the doorknob cover off.

I said "tempted".  I'm not crazy, yo.

That's what I did, but DD recently learned how to take the whole thing off.  It wasn't too bad after a couple nights.  She doesn't get out until the morning, but she moves quietly.  Now she stands at my side of the bed, puts her face right in front of my face, and starts yelling "wake up!"  It scares me every time.

Oh yeah, DS tried this stunt, too.  I taped that mofo back on.  Quite honestly, if he weren't up so god-awful early (6am, usually) I wouldn't care.  But I need a bit of a head start to have a cup of coffee, get a shower, etc.
