DC gals

Have y'all noticed a shift in ads in the past two days?  I have seen a huge change from lots of pro-Obama ads and some anti-Obama ads to HUGE amounts of very negative ads from McCain and the RNC.  The Reverend Wright ad in particular is brutal.

I'm curious about this strategy.  One, typically, races get slightly more positive in the couple days prior to the election.  Two, I'm assuming the target demographic here is Northern VA -- and they've been early voting for several weeks now.

Any theories on why the sudden huge negative push from McCain/GOP?

Re: DC gals

  • My guess is they are trying to make one final push to make up for months of running a horrible/ineffective campaign.

  • I don't have any theories, but we're seeing the same push down in Richmond, too.
  • I miss everything without tv.  But I see tons of Obama signs--way more than McCain.  On my way to work today, I saw a whole family holding McCain signs on the side of the road.

  • I saw the Wright one twice last night, and keep seeing the exec experience ones as well.

Interestingly, probably 80% of the McCain ads I'm seeing are financed by 527s or the RNC, not the campaign itself...

  • mxolisi, I noticed that as well.  I guess what's bizarre to me is that a week (or even three days ago), we didn't see these ads at all.  It's like they all decided to hold them until the last 48 hours.
  • Yes, I've noticed the same there. There have been a TON of negative McCain ads in the past 48 hours. Literally one ad per commercial break!

  • It's similar here in OH. I just saw the Rev Wright one for the first time this weekend and have seen it several times since.
  • Wright?!  Jesus, they have nothing, do they?

  • I'm not sure why the 527s decided to get into the game this late.

Or maybe they just woke up and realized they're about to lose VA? It's bizarre.

Please let it be true!  I've pinned all my happiness and hope to this happening.
