ovulation question.

is it possible to ovulate as early as day 10 in a cycle? i have no proof, im not temping or using opk strips...but that is when i had my "normal" O pains.

and then hypothetically, if that did in fact happen, would you 100% know by 16dpo? or would it be possible to get a negative test?

all hypothetically of course..

Re: ovulation question.

  • You should definitely use opk strips. It takes out the guess work! :) I bought mine online for dirt cheap. Those and pregnancy tests were at a great price.

  • hypothetically you can ovulate as early as day 10 and no, it isn't always 100% by day 16.  Close, but not always, I didn't get a positive with Jax until I was closer to 5 weeks.   I was using internet cheapie tests so that may have been part of the problem.

  • It's possible but, if it's a regular thing, is an indicator of a short luteal phase and could make getting pregnant difficult. Taking Charge of Your Fertility is an awesome book that will tell you everything you need to know - and then some - about your reproductive system.

Yes, it is possible to ovulate that early, and it's possible to test negative at 16 dpo and still be pg.

I have it, need to finish reading it lol. I usually ovulate around day 18 or so, so this cycle is abnormal. I just realized that if I did ovulate early, I'd be 16dpo, and tested but it's negative. Guess I'll have to wait and see. Of course I know there is a good chance that I didn't ovulate that early and have no clue where I am lol. Just speculating.

  • Yeah, it's possible.

I had longish cycles, and I thought I was Oing later than I actually was. Those OPKs are it.

    GL!

  • Of course. You can ovulate late too.

    How long are you cycles?

usually around 33 days. Based on that, I'm not due for my period till next week. I just redid the math thinking I possibly ovulated way earlier this month. I know it's a guess work right now.

Luteal phase is the time between ovulation and when your period starts.  Ovulating early would not indicate a short luteal phase.

I thought it was the other way around! Dammit. I need to re-red the book.

What sorts of things make you think that you have ovulated? I know you aren't charting, but are you doing any of the other things like CM or cervical position?  Basing it on ovulation pains is really deceiving...This is TMI, lol, but for the longest time I thought what I was having was ovulation pains but it turned out to issues with my digestion (such as gas, constipation, etc).

I have had very consistent (many months) pains that coincide with CM. again, I know it's a guess... Plan on using OPK when we are really trying.

I hope that you have good luck and that you won't have to chart or worry about OPKs.

Possible? Anything is *possible*. However, if you usually have a much longer cycle, and you aren't approaching menopause when everything goes haywire, it is less likely.

If you got a negative test 16 days past uncomfortable feelings, it means either you are likely not pregnant, or that you ovulated later than you thought.

I'm sure you are right. For my supplemental insurance to be applicable to a pregnancy, I have to wait till next cycle to try. So while we would be happy, financially it would suck lol

This is us exactly.  Once we reach next month, it will be 100% covered, but if this cycle I am PG, we'd have to pay.
