I need some help

My family owns a purebred lab who is about nine years old. This past week we noticed that it looks like part of his skull looks sunk in. We took him to the vet and they said that it is a swollen neragaves put him on a bunch of pills and sent him home. No exrays or anything like that. Well, now two days later and it actually looks worse. Has anyone seen anything like this before?  We are going to take him back to the vets when our normal vet comes back, but we would like some ideas of what to look for when we go back. It doesn't seem to be bothering him at all. He is still bouncy, normal and happy.

Thanks in advance!
