I was reading your blog and you have some great goal setting, self-talk stuff to read!
Here is my running, negative self-talk dilemma.
I've been "running' for several years and not really getting better. I would say that this is the first season that I have taken running much more seriously. I have monthly plans that are written in meso-cycles and all of my workouts are pre-planned, I have goals blah, blah, blah.
Here is my issue: I swim, bike, run with my team. There are some REALLY good people in my group and I always compare myself to them and in my head I say "I suck", "I'm slow", "I'll never get any better" "Everyone is better than me" "Why am I wasting my time, I should just go home" "
I really think this is affecting my performance. I really AM getting faster (just not as fast as them yet!), I am in shape. But I just am having a hard time telling myself this in the moment
HELP! What can I do when I workout and after to help me see the positive aspects of my workouts in the midst of a workout? I'm already logging workouts with how I feel, but it's always the same negativity.
When it comes to swimming, I'm on top of the world with how I feel because I'm a much better and more confident swimmer than runner.
Re: ***FMLB*** Help this negative nancy out!!
Hey! I'm off to work in a few. I'll pm you tonight
Great questions!
