My New Project (PIP)

i found this beauty on craigslist last night for $10!! ive started the sanding process, and have picked out two colors. the first is a blue/grey, and the other is a cream color. someone suggested that since im looking for a shabby chic look, to paint the first layer cream, then use the blue and sand. ive NEVER done that method before, so any tips on how to get it just right?

  • I haven't done it myself, but I've heard that you should take a candle and rub it on the parts where you want the paint to show through (after the first coat, of course).  Then while the paint is still wet wipe those spots and the paint will come off where the wax was.

Actually, you let the paint dry.   It won't adhere where the wax was applied and will come off easily.

You can also use a bar of soap or Vaseline.  I waited for mine to dry and it rubbed right off with a soft rag.
