Boobs can't ACTUALLY explode from engorgement, right?
Re: Boobs can't ACTUALLY explode from engorgement, right?
LOL
No, but they'll feel like they're about to!
And careful you don't end up with a clogged duct if you're trying to knock down your supply (I just caught up on earlier posts).
I don't think you're supposed to pump. Try hand expressing just to relieve a bit of pressure.
Here you go, tamb.

I think this is correct. Unfortunately, I think you need to quit pumping for awhile and allow your supply to regulate itself. It might be painful but once it rights itself you should feel a lot better.
yeah, I had to hand express a little last night so I could sleep (which I ended up not able to do anyway until after my next pumping session - oh well).
I always try to massage out the hard spots when I pump. I can't stop pumping to let it regulate because she isn't nursing at all anymore - just taking bottles.
i will admit something i haven't admitted here:
i sort of wish i didn't ep for as long as i did. pumping 8-10 times a day was stressful and exhausting and a pita. i probably should have just switched to formula sooner. my life was so much easier once i did. haha.
having said that - engorgement issues subsided around 2 months and i ep'ed until 5.5 months. fyi.
i will bbl if you want to chat more about this. ml nesties were very helpful to me but not many of them ep'ed so a lot of this stuff i did have to figure out myself.
I thought she was EP to feed the baby, so at some point she has to pump. Maybe I missed an update?? Tamb, are you trying to cut back on your supply or completely stop pumping?
babyzone, right now, I'm just trying to cut back because it's making me miserable how full my boobs get between pumping - particularly my left boob. It's always getting hard and sore even if righty is okay. I had wanted to keep pumping as much as I could for as long as I could to build up a freezer stash for when I go back to work (planning to quit pumping altogether then) so I could still give her some bm at night, but I have a decent amount in there already and it's not worth it. Then I guess in another couple of weeks I'll be working on stopping altogether. I go back to work on June 4th, and I want to be done then.
Boobs (lol), thanks. I feel kind of guilty about planning to start formula so early (7 weeks), but this is what I'd always said I was going to do unless I just loved breastfeeding, and well.. I'm not even directly breastfeeding, so yeah. I don't really want to have to deal with pumping and storing breastmilk at work. Plus I just hate the whole deal anyway and want my boobs back.
awe, Tamb.
i just wanted to come in and say how absolutely adorable she is! congratulations
