So $50 for photos of my kid is reasonable/cheap, right?

Our friends' neighbor's daughter (she's 21-22ish) takes pictures of their kid all the time, and she does a good job for an amateur. We're going to go out to a nice spot on Saturday, meet her and she's going to take a bunch of pics of the kids. We get the hi-res digital images and can do whatever we want with them. I think we're going to give her $50 for doing this. Sounds ok, right?

  • VERY VERY cheap, especially if she is including the digital files

  • very reasonable, worth it alone to not have to schlep your kids to a studio

  • Most session fees for GOOD photographers are more than that.

It depends on her product. That might be really reasonable, or it might be highway robbery.
    I like privacy. A lot.

I don't think she's a "good photographer" - she is 100% a hobbyist, but I've seen some of her pics and they are nice. I'm glad to help her get started/practice and appreciate having better than target pictures of my kid, lol.

  • Sounds reasonable to me, as long as you've seen her work and are fine with the quality. That's what I've been charging while portfolio building.

  • If she is a hobbyist, she shouldn't be charging anything.
