That lives with his grandmother that he "helps take care of" that pretty much raised him since his mom died when he was very young?
Re: Would you date a guy...
Yes.
My grandmother basically raised me. If she were still alive and needed caring I would be there in a heart beat. As long as he has the ability to be self-sufficient but cares for his grandmother out of love and devotion I'd be totally cool with it. I'm kind of sensitive to that since I cared for my g-ma until she passed though I was younger when that all happened (teenager).
It might get tricky depending on if g-ma can be left alone. It may mean that overnights are not possible or that a night nurse may need to be hired occasionally or something along those lines. That's something I'm willing to be flexible about but I can understand why others think it's too much of a PITA. I'm the same way with single dads and their schedules though.... call me a sucker.
If he treats his grandmother right, yes if there are no other weird factors that come into play about his character.
Life happens and we support and get support where/when we can.
This. I guess I'd go out with him and assess the situation.
Maybe. What are the circumstances? Is she sick? Is her only other option a nursing home and he's not comfortable with that? Can she not really afford anywhere else so he lives with her to allow her to remain in her home? Also, has he lived on his own before?
I think any of these are acceptable reasons. But I think I wouldn't want to date someone that hasn't ever lived independently from family.
Hey, that's valid. Everyone has made some valid points here. It's definitely not for everyone! I'd say if you're not into it then get out early on. It can be a clusterf*ck.
This!
I think as long as he has lived independently, is employed, and the grandma truly needs him, then I think it speaks volumes to this guy's character and it would make me more interested in him.
I agree with this
Nope.
I'd admire what he was doing but from afar.
I dated a guy briefly who had his mother living with him because he was caring for her. It was too weird being over there and I certainly never would have spent the night.
Plus what Kuus said.
This would be my answer. If he's just lived there his whole life, that's a different story.
