small, 1950s bathroom update?

Anybody have any pics of their updates to a small, 1950s bathroom?  TIA!

Re: small, 1950s bathroom update?

  • I do!  The house is 1950's but the bathroom was 1980's including the pink tile and aqua paint job.  We gutted everything down to the studs.  New one piece shower, new tile floor, new pedestal sink and new cabinet. This is probably not our forever house so we didn't go crazy with our spending.  H and his dad did absolutely everything themselves.

  • Looks awesome!  We don't want to spend a lot either - we just want to get it updated because we're probably going to be selling.

I'm just not sure what to do with ours.  We have peach & black tile (the peach covering all 4 walls!), and a grey bathtub, sink, & toilet.  We will replace the sink & toiler, but I'm not sure what to do with the bathtub/shower.

Do you have any pictures of what you're starting with?

Can you keep any of it?

We're already working with the seafoam green tile in the hall bathroom.  Wink

Here it is, complete with referee wallpaper:

  • Thanks.  And ditto SBP, I'd probably start from scratch.  The upside of having a small bathroom is that it's cheaper to reno. Big Smile

  • Yeah, I guess you guys are right. I was hoping we could keep the tub (reglaze?) but I'm not sure how that would work.
  • If you could cope with grey, you could paint the dated peach tile in a pale grey and add bright accents.
