Mother's Day gift ideas?

I'm at a loss for what to get my mom for Mother's Day so I thought I'd post here.  My usual default is golf stuff but since she broke her arm, that's out of the question.  She's the annoying kind of woman who buys everything she wants or needs (massages, weekly manicures, you name it).  She doesn't wear jewelry, doesn't garden, and her only real hobbies are golf (already mentioned that's out of the equation) and mah jong (got her stuff for that last year).

Any ideas for the woman who has everything?

Re: Mother's Day gift ideas?

  • Do you live nearby?  Could you cook her a nice brunch or dinner?  Or send her some muffins or cookies, if she doesn't live nearby?

Does she like to read?  Maybe some books about golf or mah jong.

    Tickets to a concert/play/ballet/festival/whatever?

  • I live with my parents (moving out in July) and we're going for brunch as a family.

Tickets are a good idea.  Thanks!

  • You said she doesn't garden, but does she enjoy flowers? Does she work outside of the home? I'm sending my mom flowers to her work on the Friday before Mother's Day. Can't go wrong with that!

I'm also hosting an early dinner on Mother's Day for my mom, all 4 of my grandparents, as well as FF's mom/step-dad and grandparents. Oye.....I'm a mom too..I should get the day off!! Wink

Good luck with the dinner.  That sounds like a lot of work!

She doesn't work and my SIL is the designated flower-giver.  She used to be a florist and gets great flower deals so there's no point.  She has meant to get a potted plant for the porch so I can do that.

Hmm, maybe a potted plant and foot reflexology?  All of the Broadway shows I've found are super expensive :(

  • Could you do a mother-daughter spa day or massage or something?  That way, even though she normally goes on her own, she'd get a chance to spend time with you?
  • I'm making my mom a scrapbook. It's just a small one of my dogs (that she takes care of a lot).  Even though I'm thirty my mom still loves when I make her something. Is there something you could make her?
  • I like the scrapbook idea but I did something like this years ago and it just got put on a shelf and is never looked at.  My mom doesn't like clutter.  If I hadn't gotten my brother and SIL a photoshoot for the winter holidays I would have done that for her for Mother's Day and then had pics made up.

Hmm, maybe the spa day is the best option.  Thanks ladies!

  • Porn?? Stick out tongue

I saw a cute (easy) way to make modge podge photo things with a tile (from a hardware store), some scrapbook paper and a photo....let me know if that's at all appealing.

  • I am getting my mom a spa day. I think that is always a great gift for a woman!

  • Mint, is your mom a foodie at all? Jeni's Ice Cream is literally the most delicious ice cream in the country, and it ships to all 50 states. You can go to jenisicecreams.com and see all of the flavors. If you have any questions, I'm full of information.
