Random AW

I'm going after work to meet with the decorator.  DH and I are building our own house and today we get to pick the cabinets, countertops, brick colors, roof shingle colors, etc.  I'm pretty excited.  Big Smile

Re: Random AW

  • that sounds awesome. when should the house be ready?

  • Have fun and take your time!  We ended up changing some things a couple of times and as you get closer and closer to completion, you won't have that option.

I loved picking out the fun stuff.  I actually had the granite and cabinets picked out before the actual floor plan.  Embarrassed

Damn you Nest for screwing up my siggy!

  • Oh, that does sound fun!  Congrats on the house!

When progress is made you should post some pics (if you're comfortable).

  • Have fun :) Part of me thinks I'd really enjoy that, the other part thinks I'd be way too overwhelmed.

Same here.  I'd love to build a house someday, but I think it would be DH's worst nightmare.  I'm so indecisive, lol.

TBH, and not to scare Sessions or anything, but I will never ever ever ever do a new build again.  There was just too much drama, something was always going wrong...I mean, I like it now that it's done, but not enough to go through it all again.  I am very decisive, so things got done eventually, but M is incredibly indecisive (so we didn't see eye to eye on decisions for more than a day before he'd change his mind).  And he was really nitpicky...as in drilling the builders on why our pipes were white when our neighbor's were black.  Seriously, it was annoying.

But it was more annoying b/c M just can't handle that kind of decision making w/o losing his mind.

Damn you Nest for screwing up my siggy!

  • I've heard it is a REALLY stressful process, but we have already had a bad experience TWICE trying to buy an existing home, so we're ready for it (we think lol).  We had a good time picking out all of the stuff.  So far the only progress picture I have is the cleared lot!  The lot is between the utility boxes/machinery on the left and the lamp post on the right.
